It’s a phrase employed often in today’s post-feminist society. However, it’s a memo many the world over are struggling to subscribe to. Case, point, Nigeria.
Renown for housing stunning Nubian beauty, the African country has ironically emerged at the forefront of nations notorious for the use of dangerous (and often illegal) skin-bleaching creams.
Sadly, an increasing number of women (and men) in the oil-rich country are risking their health in the pursuit of a lighter hue. Indeed, unfortunately, light skin seems to equal is “right skin”.
