Since blazing onto the small screen earlier this year, ABC smash ‘Scandal’ has amassed a vast audience. Indeed, the show – which centres on the life and trails of political fixer Olivia Pope - has captivated viewers with a flavorsome blend of drama, suspense, and incredible acting.
It’s little surprise, then, the women at the center of its success – lead Kerry Washington and creator Shonda Rhimes – are the latests guests on Oprah’s Next Chapter.
Set to air this Sunday (December 9th), the episode sees Washington dish on what it is like to be the first lead African-American actress on a primetime show in almost four decades and her favorite part about playing the character Olivia Pope. She also talks about her vision for her career, as well as her highly-anticipated upcoming movie, Django Unchained, had on her life. Winfrey also quizes Rhimes on what inspired her to create ‘Scandal’, as well as another hit show she helmed – ‘Greys Anatomy’.

I can’t wait to see this interview, Kerry Washington is one of my favorite actresses. It should be interesting to hear what she has to say about being the first lead African-American actress on a primetime show in almost four decades. In addition, I also look forward to hearing from Shonda Rhimes, Grey’s Anatomy is one of my favorite shows. My DISH coworker first told me about this interview. I’ve been storing this whole recorded season on my DISH Hopper along with some of my other favorite shows. I never run out of room on this DVR because it has 2TB of space on the hard drive. I can’t wait to hear about Washington’s role in Django Unchained!
