Introducing…The Diary Of A Dating Diva (Entry One)

black woman computer Introducing...The Diary Of A Dating Diva (Entry One)

Ahhh, the single life. Some love it, some hate it, but let’s face it – we’ve all experienced it.

More now than ever though, it seems to be more difficult to shake this solo dolo life covered up with being called “independence”. For many women, being in a relationship as you approach your late twenties is very important. In our mind, our biological clock is tick, tick, ticking away!

While this all may be true – and trust me, it is – what are we doing to set ourselves up to be taken out of the single life? Now, most of you are about to tell me that God awful statement, “you shouldn’t go looking for love – let it come to you.” Hmpf, like hell! Did you ever think the person that you’re meant to be with is thinking that same thing? If no one’s looking, how are people (other than you) being found?!

With that question put into place, I started really thinking to myself…how are they finding each other?! Then it hit me.

Our generation has evolved from calling one another to texting, skyping instead of visiting, and ordering out instead of cooking. With all of these changes, what would make finding a relationship any different?

Some of you might be confused still, but don’t worry, I’m about to break it all down for you.

Going from traditional ways of dating to the more conventional ways of our generation, have you ever thought about joining the online dating scene? Now, now, calm down. I can picture all of your faces right now frowning up and saying, “oh, unh unh,” but in all honesty, have you even given it a try? I didn’t think so.

I, as like you, made the same sounds and faces when approached with the idea late last week by friends. I even had someone tell me, “I’m not that desperate yet to do online dating.” Is desperateness the only way to sign up for these dating sources though? Or is it just because love is actually out there to be found?

To help ease those online dating jitters and stray away from those “black people don’t do those things” statements, I’ve decided to sign up for a few of the top online dating sites (okcupid.com & plentyoffish.com) ACTUALLY go on a few dates and report back to you with the good, bad and hopefully, not so ugly. So sit back and get ready for a good laugh as you journey into The Diary Of A Dating Diva. I promise it’ll be worth it.
