As her husband, Barack Obama, was preparing for round two of the second nationally televised presidential debate against Republican hopeful, Mitt Romney, the FLOTUS was working on his behalf in reaching out to American women.
In a letter she penned to ELLE, Michelle Obama informed their female readers of the reasons she voted for the man she’s “loved for more than two decades” back in 2008, and why they should do so on November 6th.
She wrote:
“…four years ago—against all odds—I joined millions of Americans from all backgrounds and walks of life to vote for Barack. I didn’t do it just because we were married. I voted for him because I knew he was going to stand up for women like me—and our daughters, sisters, and mothers. When I look at all he’s done since that freezing day he was inaugurated on the Capitol steps—from health-care reform, to saving jobs, to fighting for women’s rights—I’m proud of how far we have come. And I’m determined to help him keep moving forward.”
The mother of two went on to list five specific reasons women should vote Barry O into a second term, including: equal pay for women, Obamacare, affordable education, women’s economic success, and a fair shot at the American dream.
