We know, the last few months has seen ample teasing in the form of #WhoIsShe. Well, today, all the ambiguity ends. The answer to the question is quite simple…She Is Diva!
The latest addition to the That Grape Juice Group, She Is Diva dishes the finest in fashion, beauty, hair care, love, life, celebrity, and culture for the contemporary woman of color. A labor of love, there’s little coincidence in the fact that it’s taken nine months to piece together our platform. Needless to say, we couldn’t be happier to finally share our buddle of joy with you.
With a view to both entertain and inform, we see no point lamenting on the so-so portrayal of women of color. No. Instead, we’d rather show the world who we are collectively. We’re smart, we’re sassy, we’re sexy, and we’re stylish. We’re more than superwomen, we’re divas and we perform well at life!
So slip on those stilletto’s and come strut with us!

Why is it a blog for women ‘of colour’? Other than features on hair, I can’t really see how skin colour would make a difference to the readership.

It was never slated as ONLY for women of color, only a place for us to recognized & celebrated. Readership, as always….we prefer in rainbow shades!

We’re smart, we’re sassy, we’re sexy, and we’re stylish blabla..
This site almost makes it sound like women of colour are the same as real women wow *sarcasm off*. Other than hair and skin color, nothing is special about black women- we’re all human. We’re all one. We’re all the same. Act the part.

Yes, we are all the same (biologically). But we are Black people living in a world very much run by White media and we are tired of being misrepresented. HOPEFULLY this new site will handle things in a professional way that we can be proud of. Not to stan for “Black power” or “Why our hair is better” (Knowing that Sam Ajilore runs this site [TGJ] makes me rest knowing that at least a positive portrayal of Black people is likely). Hopefully, it will be the Whitney description of “Diva” which is about being classy and treating people well rather than the “Who run the world? FXXX you, pay me!” type of “Diva” who thinks she’s a female version of a hustler!
